Congratulations! You did it! This is your last week of online learning! We are all so proud of you, and know that you will keep up the good work over the summer. This will be a busy week in your classrooms, but I hope that you will continue to work on Typing Club and continue to use the links I have provided to continue practicing your typing skills and digital citizenship through the summer. We will miss you very much!
Love,
Mrs. Scanlan and Mrs. Chasse

Begin your computer lesson with Typing Club each week. I would love for you to spend at least 10-20 minutes on this site if you can. Only two weeks to go! I urge you to pay close attention to finger and hand positions on the keyboard and work through the test points. Feel free to look at the stats to see how you are doing. I would love to hear about your progress. You can also let me know if you are having any frustrations. After you have completed your typing practice, there are lots of coding activities to do under the library page for this week. Feel free to visit one of those sites, or one of the many sites I have suggested in past weeks for fun typing practice!

Hello again!
It's time to warm up those fingers and practice, practice, practice! I would love to hear how your typing club lessons are going! Please email me, google chat, or click the chat button on this website if you would like to catch me up on how you are feeling about your typing practice! [email protected]. If you have time, I would like you to pop over to the Library lesson and work on your Author study. Doing this will give you a chance not only to continue the work on that assignment, but also to practice the typing skills you have acquired.
Also remember that you can choose to practice your skills through some of the fun games and activities posted in previous weeks/posts. What is important to me is that you continue to improve your technology skills. Check out the resources tab for some additional sites to visit.
Always miss you!
Mrs. S.

Welcome back to another week of online learning! Hang in there! You've got this!
This week, continue to practice your typing lessons using Typing Club. There are some ideas below on how you can practice your typing skills. Also, offer to type this week's grocery list, or type a letter to your favorite teacher! I know they would just love to hear from you! Also, below are some links to some other fun ways to practice typing skills. Have fun, and let me know if you need any help! As a challenge, try typing without looking at the keys. You should be very good at this as long as your fingers are in the correct position.
Miss you all,

Some ways to practice your skills:
*Ask for permission to type an email to a family member sending them positive messages of kindness and love.
* Ask if you can type a shopping list as someone reads it to you.
*Type labels for your toy bins or for food labels in the kitchen.
*Type a list of chores that you will be responsible for doing around the house.
*Open your favorite book and type the text on one of the pages.
*Find an online game with your family that requires typing to win the game. There are many out there.
* Play the typing game on abcya called Ghost Typing. This is a fun way to develop some speed!

Grades 3,4,5 Computer Remote Learning March 23-27
Dear Maple Wood Families,
As we move forward with remote learning, beginning on March 23, it will be important for your child to choose one assignment per week just as they would if they were in their normal learning environment. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any difficulty. Our main focus is to keep students working on their typing, and basic computer skills. If you experience any trouble getting logged onto the below websites, please let us know. We will also include lessons which address internet safety and how to become a digital citizen in upcoming lessons.
Mrs. S.
Mrs. Chasse would like you to begin your work on Typing Club. You will find the link below. If you have any trouble logging on or have any questions, do not hesitate to email me at [email protected]
She would like you to begin and stay in the current group of lessons you have been working on until you have mastery. This may mean repeating the lesson 5 times before moving past the test point. It is so important for you to be completing these lessons, keeping your hands correctly on the home row, and following the directions as they are given. It's up to you now! You've got this!! Learning to type correctly and with speed will make so many of the other tasks you need to do easier. Typing research reports, writing emails, writing code, remote learning, and taking tests on the computer will all be a breeze if you keep those keyboarding skills fine tuned!
Have fun!

Hey Kiddos! Just like last week, please start your computer lesson with Typing Club. If you would like to keep track of how you are doing, click on Stats and you will be prompted to log in with google. This should give you information on your progress!
After you are finished, I hope you will check out this lesson on digital citizenship and online safety!
* When using the first link, you are going to the Common Sense Media website. Please only watch the video The Power of Words at the top of the screen.
https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship/lesson/the-power-of-words
Now watch a short presentation on the power of words! Discuss the slides with someone at home!

Or, you can click on the link to this worksheet about the video you just watched and discuss the answers with someone in your household, print it out and complete, or write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.

Hello again! I can't believe it is week 3 of remote learning already! Just like last week, please start your computer lesson with Typing Club. If you would like to keep track of how you are doing, click on Stats and you will be prompted to log in with google. This should give you information on your progress! If you cannot get onto Typing Club (which should not need a long in) then you may use another program to practice typing skills. Please note that if you use a site like KWTears, it may need your log in information. I unfortunately do not have this. If you can't remember it, reach out to your teacher. If they cannot help you then you will need to use another program.
*Please keep checking the resource tab on my page as I am constantly adding new ones for you to check out.
Miss you lots!
Mrs. Scanlan and Mrs. Chasse

Play a game of jumper to help review last week's digital citizenship lessons!
*This is a great game, but I had a little trouble creating a username. I have reported the problem. If it persists I will take it down and replace it. Give it a try!

Hi Kiddos!
Yep, I miss you more than EVER! I hope your typing practice is going well! This week I want you to put that skill to the test. After you have done your typing practice on Typing Club, I would like for you to have some fun practicing your speed and accuracy by doing some real world tasks. I will list some choices below. Please remember that you only need to choose one, but you are welcome to do more. Also, if you have any problems with the technology or questions, feel free to email me.
Happy Spring!!
Love,
Mrs. Scanlan and Mrs. Chasse
