Congratulations! You did it! This is your last week of online learning! We are all so proud of you, and know that you will keep up the good work over the summer. This will be a busy week in your classrooms, but I hope that you will continue to work on KWTears and continue to use the links I have provided to continue practicing your typing skills and digital citizenship through the summer. We will miss you very much!
Love,
Mrs. Scanlan and Mrs. Fuller
Dear Idlehurst Families,
As we move forward with remote learning, beginning on March 23, it will be important for your child to choose one assignment per week just as they would if they were in their normal learning environment. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any difficulty. Our main focus is to keep students working on their typing, and basic computer skills. If you experience any trouble getting logged onto the below websites, please let us know. Coming up we will also include lessons which address internet safety and how to become a digital citizen.
Mrs. S.
Mrs. Fuller made sure that she sent all of your login information to your classroom teacher. She would like you to make sure that you try to log on to KWTears and continue your lessons. She would like you to try to do at least 20 minutes each week. You are welcome to do more if you wish! After you are finished take a few minutes to explore some of the fun learning on PBS kids!
* NOTICE: It seems that the KWTears website is having some technical trouble as there are so many users at one time. If you cannot get onto the website, you can try Dance Mat Typing or Typing.com

You’ve got this! After you are finished, I would like you to watch the video about online safety. Just click on the first link below. This will help you become a digital citizen! Next watch the presentation (click the second link) and discuss some of the questions, especially on the last slide, with someone in your household!

Hi Kiddos!
Yep, I miss you more than EVER! I hope your typing practice is going well! This week I want you to put that skill to the test. After you have done your typing practice on KWTears, I would like for you to have some fun practicing your speed and accuracy by doing some real world tasks. I will list some choices below. Please remember that you only need to choose one, but you are welcome to do more. Also, if you have any problems with the technology or questions, feel free to email me.
Happy Spring!!
Love,
Mrs. Scanlan and Mrs. Fuller

Some ways to practice your skills:
*Ask for permission to type an email to a family member sending them positive messages of kindness and love.
* Ask if you can type a shopping list as someone reads it to you.
*Type labels for your toy bins or for food labels in the kitchen.
*Type a list of chores that you will be responsible for doing around the house.
*Open your favorite book and type the text on one of the pages.
*Find an online game with your family that requires typing to win the game. There are many out there.
* Play the typing game on abcya called Ghost Typing. This is a fun way to develop some speed!

* Find a timer, and practice typing something. Record your time. Type the same thing over and try to beat your own time!
*Remember to check the resources tab for more typing links! Have fun!

Ok Kiddos! Let's get typing! Begin with KWTears. Keep going! You've got this!
After you have finished your practicing for today, try putting those skills to use!
*Open up a word document, or a google doc.
*In your library lesson this week we will be looking closer at Authors and how they invent the characters in their books! Try thinking up a character of your own.
*On your document, use those typing skills to type some words that describe your character.
*Now can you make the words bigger? Can you make them bold or underline them?
Can you change the font and the color. I'll bet there is someone in your house who can show you some of these fun ways to change your text. Below is an example of mine. I can't wait to see yours. This lesson is combined with the library lesson so you only have to do it once.
